The found family aspect of this book was my favorite part. I'm a character reader and there were a few characters I freaking loved, namely Enrique, Zofia, and my all-time fave Hypos. If there was a Hypnos spin off, I'd be there in a heartbeat. But any time I was in a chapter about one of those three, i was having a great time. I wasn't as invested in Severin, Laila, and Tristan and there's a lot built into this book that relied on the reader developing feelings for all three. The story clips along at a good pace and there's several thrilling sections where I was very "leaned in". Ultimately, I was very disappointed by the ending. I know it's a trilogy, but I found myself really mad at how things wrapped up and not in an excited way to pick up book 2. I found the magic in the book to be very intriguing but a bit unclear, like I understand it on a basic level but I don't think I could explain forging to a friend very easily. I think the book could've gone into more detail here. Overall, this is a really solid good read with a few elements that just didn't click for me. Fans of found family and heist stories will really enjoy it!
