Lucy by the Sea by Elizabeth Strout
5.0

4th in a series, sorry about it, but lowkey read as a standalone if you want, it’s that good. Set in the pandemic OK STAY WITH ME HERE I actually controversially love novels that mention COVID because i get scared when I think I forget it happened. Elizabeth Strout is absolutely incredible. A novel of memories and tense relationships. So incredibly incredibly human GOD yeah I love this book. there’s this bit where lucy doesn’t do something selfless. she doesn’t give up her place in a long line for an elderly man because she doesn’t want to wait again. i thought it was one of the most affecting things i’d ever read.
