Beneath Cruel Fathoms
by Anela Deen
I received an advance review copy for free from Booksirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I just loved it!
This story was beautiful and so amazing. I fell in love with Leonel.
This book started slow but not a borring slow and then without your realization, you're at the last page. This story was mesmerizing from page one. It's about a merman Leonel who save a girl Isaura from drowning because she is the only witness to a strange storm that sank the ship she was on. These strange storms are happening a lot and are disturbing the sea life. Leonel as the guardian has to save her in order to get the informatin he needs to prove to the king that something odd and magical is at work.
This story is also about two characters who are facing issues in their personal lives. Leonel is the illegitimate son of the queen, he suffered a lot from this among his family who doesn't see him as part of them. Isaura ,a healer, is returning home after her divorce with her husband, it just hurts to see yourself broken because of something that nature didn't gave you and you were born just that way, I just didn't like when Isaura saw herself as being Broken because this concept should not be applied to humans .
Anyway, Isaura and Leonel are amazing characters and the way they get through their emotions was what made the book so much interesting. I loved the author's writing style mainly because it was so much captivating and don't let me start about the plot. I just want more and I'm sure there will be a sequel that I will be eager to read.
Thank you so much for Leonel because for me he's the main character of this book even if I loved Isaura as a strong female character but Leonel was so cute.I
