Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

3.0

This book is fine but could have been SO good. The author had a brief idea with where he wanted the story to go but he couldn’t really execute it well. I do get the point that it took him 5 years to write this and was hard but my man, this had so much potential.

I liked the plot to be honest. The character development of Ari was through the roof and I loved that. I wish we had more Dante though. Maybe his POV or just more of him being in the scene.
The characters talk A LOT. I mean who talks that much in real like my man? I found myself skipping a lot of sections and still understanding what the author was going for. Even early on in the book, it was way too slow and I felt like dropping it but I’m kinda glad I stuck through it.

This is definitely not as good as the prequel, but you could read it once just to see where they really ended up.
