Dangerous Alliance: An Austentacious Romance by Jennieke Cohen
Did not finish book.
This book was not for me. I followed my 50 page rule and just could not get into it. I love Austen and I think that's why I couldn't get into it.
I did not connect with any characters.
I did not care for the style of writing (it was too modern, but trying so hard to be like Austen to me - the disconnect was too much).
I didn't find the plot compelling (a girl MUST marry by the end of the season or else her family's estate will fall into the clutches of her sister's abusive husband who she's trying to divorce - I'm calling it now, she ends up with the neighbor who used to be her bff who cast her aside probably because of his abusive father).
It's evident that it's personal preference that's behind the low rating. There's a market for the book, though.
