Unteachable by Elliot Wake
4.0

The sign of a good book for me is one that makes me think, squirm and want to throw my Kindle across the room. Unteachable did all of that. I had some real trouble with Evan. My spidey senses kept going off in the beginning because I couldn't quite figure him out. That the author made me love him and hate him from paragraph to paragraph speaks to her phenomenal writing skills. When we hit a twist about him, I thought to myself "I KNEW it." Maise was a conundrum for me. Was she a tragic teenager with a crappy life or was she a sexual siren who, in Lolita-like fashion, entranced her teacher. It wasn't until I was about 80% in that I made my decision and boosted my rating of the book from a 3 to a 4.5. While I really liked it, it wasn't a 5 for me because the lyrical writing style, while good, grew tiresome at times and I skipped parts. But I will definitely read more from this author.
