Once & Future, Vol. 1: The King is Undead
by Kieron Gillen
The plot is pretty straight forward: King Arthur is not as good as legend makes out. People want to resurrect him to usher in a new world order. Other people want to stop this.
Thought about this for a couple of days as to why I simply liked it but not loved it. And it comes down to character development. Or lack thereof. Lots of great action going on in this book right from the get go and the characters are in real danger but we don't know them very well so it is hard to be that invested in their survival. I mean Duncan goes from zero to hero in such a short time I was left scratching my head as to how. I didn't hate it so I will stick around. Maybe things will be explained/fleshed out in the second volume.
