I know this is a book for younger readers, but I still had a fun time! It goes by very fast, haha.

The main character’s mother passed away before the start of the book, from an undisclosed illness. A major supporting character’s mother is shown to be extremely callous to him, and threatens him with extreme punishment (which is never carried out on-page). There is a scene where school-children yell verbal abuse at another passing child because that child is homeschooled.
