The Year of Living Danishly: Uncovering the Secrets of the World's Happiest Country by Helen Russell

2.0

I read half of the book and didn’t think it was worth finishing. I didn’t like the author’s style. I didn’t find the humor well-executed. There were way too many references to studies, articles, etc. siting statistics, which interrupted any flow that might have been able to be achieved. The dialogue that was written attempted to make her discoveries about the culture seem contained to single conversations, which felt unnatural. I would love to see the book edited to be more pure in either direction: a fact-based description of what it is like liking in Denmark, or a comedic travel essay.
