Stay Sexy & Don't Get Murdered: The Definitive How-To Guide by Georgia Hardstark, Karen Kilgariff
2.0
Honestly, I LOVE this podcast. It’s been something I look forward to listening to every week while on a long drive or while cleaning the house.
This book, however, was pretentious AF. It’s basically just a book where they talk about themselves and continually tell you to go to therapy. I am not against therapy, but to hear them say “find a therapist” multiple times a chapter got old really quickly.
They each told the story of their lives, which neither one had it all that bad, as if it was a sob story and we should pity their experiences.
Karen is usually my favorite on the podcast because she is so funny, but here all I heard was narcissism and arrogance... Also, why did we need a play by play of her latch key life with her sister??? Georgia had a much less arrogant way of telling her story, but I still had a hard time connecting with her.
This book claims to be a definitive guide to “stay sexy and don’t get murdered” but they only touched on that concept briefly. I would have liked (and was expecting) more stories and examples of how to stay safe in a world so cruel. Instead I got ordered to see a therapist and told how they “survived” life. They told you how they went from drugs to riches, not how to survive being a victim of a serial killer. I wanted so much more.
I will be shaking my head at the disappointment of this book for days to come.
