Normally I really like a messy self-sabotaging narrator (like in Luster) but I struggled to get through this one. It was repetitive and lacked build up to an event.

The musings about race, pop culture and social media were spot on, but often they didn't fit with the rest of the story -- they felt more like think pieces that could be read as totally separate from the rest of the book.

What this book does well is describe the idiosyncrasies and power dynamics of relationships.
