The Passion of Dolssa by Julie Berry

4.0

Really excellent at characterization and immersing the reader in the world of the novel. Lovely writing. Seems to be well researched, though I know nothing about the setting. My one critique is that the major events of the plot are inevitable and the second half of the book especially is weighted down with a heavy sense of doom. I appreciate the sprinkle of hope at the very end, but it wasn't quite enough to balance the book. Still highly recommended.
