The Gem Thief by Sian Ann Bessey

4.0

I wasn't sure exactly what to expect when I bought this in audio format. It sounded good though, and it included gems, which is an interest of mine so I thought I'd try it. I'm glad I did - I really enjoyed this story!

There were several themes in this story that connected for me. First and foremost, the characters were quirky and charming and very likable. Gracie in particular really struck a chord with me. I loved her spunk and determination as well as her kindness.

Quinn was the perfect leading man: strong, honourable and sexy, but needing a woman to help him open up.

And Dorcas was just a hoot! The epitome of the busybody aunt who organizes everyone around her's lives without them even realizing it.

The settings of New York [always a fave book locale for me] and the Mediterranean on the cruise made for fun living vicariously by the reader. The author does a great job of making you feel like you are on the cruise too so that was fun.

The investigation about the replaced jewels was a neat plot point and I enjoyed that.

Overall this was just a fun, light easy-reading enjoyable story.

Format note: the narrator of this was excellent doing a great job of voicing each character with a unique voice and personality. If you like audio books this is a good one to listen to.
