High Fidelity
by Nick Hornby
Is Rob the male version of me? Is that why I loved this book so much?
I love characters like the ones in this book. Funny, honest, insecure, sarcastic, realistic, imperfect human beings. This book offers a brilliant and insightful examination of our ability to commit (to jobs, relationships, friendship, etc.) as we get older and the internal dialogue you know we've all had at some point or another just as a byproduct of growing up and observing the people around us.
Hornby does a really good job of blending realistic existential crises with out-of-left-field thinking patterns in the main character, Rob, which both kept me on my toes as to what he'd do next and made his actions very familiar at the same time. I loved this book and can't wait to watch the movie next!
