Finished the book but gosh have some questions. Why was Alvaro Trueba killed and not just kidnapped for ransom money? How does his case link to Carla Ortiz's? Did I miss something? Yes I know that Alvaro wasn't in fact killed and the maid's son accidentally was but still am scratching my head. Was it because both families are wealthy and obtained their wealth dubiously? Also, the fact that Nicolas didn't realise that Sandra was not his daughter was truly idiotic. I didn't like the jumping around of characters within chapters but overall I enjoyed this book for its humour, intrigue and pacing. Ending is good and sets up Book #2 nicely. No doubt answers to questions coming up in books #2 and #3.
On another note, I don't get why folks are comparing this to Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Was that a shameless seed planted by the publisher's? That series is way more gritty and raw and in a class all of its own. Having said that, this book is still worth a read and has something to say about the very rich, ethics and personal morals. Would you speak the truth to save your loved one from a merciless death, knowing that such truth would destroy you reputation and wealth? The pacing is good too and several scenes are written edge of your seat thrilling.
