The Death of Vivek Oji by Akwaeke Emezi

4.0

3.5/5 stars

Set in Nigeria this book tells the story of the life and death of Vivek Oji and the people close to Vivek. Vivek's struggle with identity and the way the different characters react to that is beautifully written.

This book was so powerful. Every character had such depth and emotion. It's amazing how much feeling Emezi put into this relatively short book.

The main relationship in this book is between two cousins. It feels uncomfortable to read me since that's illegal where I live. I do want to educate myself on the views on this topic in other countries. What does everyone else who read this book think about this?
