Until Next Time by Claudia Burgoa
5.0

Since I started reading Claudia Burgoa's books, I've missed very few, and most of those have since been read. I tell you that because Until Next Time is the one exception in that it was intentionally skipped when it was first released. I was going through my grieving process and decided to wait until I was in a better place to read about Zach's and Autumn's losses. Parts of this one were still hard for me, but the balance of angst and humor helped a lot. The wonderful narration by Jason Clarke, Ava Erikson, and Brooke Bloomingdale certainly didn't hurt either. This isn't my first listening experience with any of these narrators, and I'm always happy to let them carry me away for a while, especially when they voice Claudia's complex characters. We even get to visit with some past favorites, which is one of the many things I like about this author. So many characters pop in from other books and series, yet the book can still be read as a standalone (not that you'll want to read just this one book once you've met Claudia Burgoa's characters).
Back to Zach and Autumn: this couple kind of takes the scenic route to their HEA, and quite often, it's an emotional journey. Even through the angst, their attraction is almost palpable. There's just something about this pair that makes you want to see them happy. It's not all about Zach and Autumn, though. We also get a too smart for her own good, meddling in mommy's love life, calling it as she sees it, adorable little lady, who pretty much steals the show every time she's on the page.
So, once again, Claudia Burgoa has penned a terrific story and characters and entrusted them to some thoroughly entertaining narrators for a book I'll be thinking about for some time to come.
