This was a slow burn. The pay off at the end was worthwhile but a slog to get there.
An editing pet peeve was how they handled the book within a book. The chapters of the book she’s reading, though the length of stand alone chapters, were imbedded within the actual books chapters. Which meant some chapters were 9 pages and some where 80 (I read on my phone, so maybe not the exact numbers in the physical book but the same ratio). They should have made the inner book chapters their own chapters since the chapters had dates/headings anyway. I divided up how many chapters I needed to read each day to finish and the wonky length threw it off.
