This book consumed me in the best way. I had my reservations to even read it at first because I thought “oh great, another overhyped book.” I also approached this book with a lot of trepidation. As a child of the ’80s who watched the Challenger space shuttle explosion live in 5th grade, I was nervous about reading a story centered on women astronauts during that era. Ultimately I am glad that I dove into it because it is brilliant.
Let me tell you that this book wrecked me emotionally in the best way.
I cried during multiple parts, especially during the last 40 minutes, where I just bawled.
The audiobook narration was perfect and it captured both personalities of Joan and Vanessa.
