The Honey Witch by Sydney J. Shields

Did not finish book. Stopped at 17%.
I was super excited when I finally got a hold of this book. The premise sounded cheesy but it was my kind of cheesy. However, in just the first few chapters, it was killing me. They drill into you how much the main character is "not like other girls" and how she "has no special talents, unlike her uber talented family." Then her grandmother shows up and, SURPRISE, she's a witch. I usually live these stories, but this one was so obvious with it and, though I thought this was an adult fantasy, it reads like middle grade.

Also the way these characters speak go.bavl and forth between old timey and modern day and I just couldn't get with it. Hopefully someone else finds joy in this book, but I couldn't get past the first quarter of it.
