Courting Trouble
by Lisa Scottoline
Yeah, the whiff of authoritarian in-group preference became unmistakable in this one. If you're not a lawyer, you're not a full human being worth caring about. There were some seemingly tacked-on bits to try to address this (Scottoline must have a decent editor), but overall, the only people who matter are the lawyers and, by extension, their clients. I guess if I were ever in a Scottoline novel, I would be a plot device.
