This was a very good first book in a series. It set up the world and the marvelling / conjuring system nicely, and I'm excited to eventually dive into book two.

My only issue was that I felt we were left with 5x more questions than we got answers, and I'm not referring to the cliffhanger. That was expected. I don't know how to explain further without spoilers, though.

While frustrating at times, I also enjoyed that it reflected and tackled real life societal problems, like how prejudiced (& more) people can be, and how important & beneficial it is to come together as people.
