3.0

I wish I could give this a 3.5, because a 3 seems just a bit too harsh. Overall, this was an enjoyable read. As a beginner birder and a backyard hummingbird feeder and watcher, I really enjoyed learning more about hummingbirds. Masear is incredibly knowledgeable, and she shares her knowledge in an accessible way. My biggest gripe is that the book felt like it dragged on for about 50-100 pages too long. Masear's stories of people bringing her hummingbirds felt repetitive after a while, and the dialog felt kind of fake, which made those parts hard to read. Even so, I would definitely recommend this book to birders or to anyone who is simply captivated by hummingbirds.
