Ryan's Bed by Tijan

TW: suicide

This isn't about Ryan's bed but more like Mackenzie dealing with her sister's ghost and her own guilt.

I thought I was going to read a story about how Mackenzie would deal with her grief with the help of Ryan but she mostly did it herself. She kept it bottled up most of the time.

Ryan was just there. Almost a side character. I really liked his character because he is just the sweetest when it comes to Mackenzie. He understood her, helped her, and never once made her feel like she's being irrational with her grief.

Mackenzie is just overcome with grief and is understandable because it was her twin. I just felt exhausted reading about her comparing herself every damn situation with her twin. She started seeing and talking to her twin's ghost. I didn't expect that. I was truly just here for the romance that's why I skipped the pages whenever it came upon her and the ghost. Oh, and also the angst-y teen drama involved - skipped those as well. It's like she never got a break from all corners of the world. I'm not even going to talk about her parents.

Mackenzie just had it hard in this book. Too damn hard.

This was an emotionally-charged book filled with more high school drama than the romance between the two MCs and heroine moving on. There was too much drama that I had to skim. I skipped most of the pages that I shouldn't count this as one I actually read.

I should have DNF'd but I was interested in seeing her accept her loss and moving on in a beautiful way. It was just spooky with the haunting. I was very disappointed in the fact that this focused too much on Mackenzie and how she fought demonic sophomores and one senior for the sake of teen drama.

The ending was
