"How I shall miss our home, yet it is indeed a relief to get away for a few days, and is that not the tragedy of London? One must live there to appreciate the joy of leaving."

THIS WAS SUCH A VIBE!

I was a bit nervous going into this because historical stuff really isn't my jam. It took me a couple of chapters to get into it but then I ATE. IT. UP!

Set in London in the 1700s we're following sweet Thomas True and his misadventures arriving in London. The Betrayal of Thomas True is the most charming book I think I've ever read. The characters felt so vibrant and real and I could picture myself in the London streets.

Of course this was a bit of a journey and I would recommend having your tissues as you near the end.

I wrote my dissertation on how queer culture affected fashion, so I've done a little bit of reading on molly houses and they're existence. I think that really added to my enjoyment of this book.

I don't know why but this realy gave me Roald Dahl vibes, I think because of the quirky characters and very British vibes.

I also kept casting Olivia Colman in the movie - Mother Clap maybe?

I'd highly recommend this to anyone that loves a queer story!
