The end of this book really clinched the 4 star rating for me.
I have been intrigued by this book for a while, but also a bit put off by its popularity. It started off strong with a very diverse cast of characters and an intricate world with interesting and complicated rules that I genuinely admire and enjoyed reading. The middle of the book fell pretty flat for me though. At some point I felt like I was watching some reality tv program. I was fully prepared for 3 starts until the ending. Most of the time I’m pretty good at calling out plot twists, but this one was so well done, so well foreshadowed, that I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. I’m genuinely excited for what the sequel has in store.
