On Distant Shores by Sarah Sundin

3.0

On Distant Wings was just a little too cheesy for me, and a little too blatantly Christian. In general I like books with characters who are comfortable showing their faith, but it doesn't feel realistic to have a large part of the cast talking about what "the Lord wants in my life," especially when they're in the middle of the European War Theater (a fantastic setting for a novel, in my opinion!).

In the first book of Sundin's Nightingale series, I found the romance much more compelling than in this one. It was just too predictable. The author made a big deal of the fact that her hero and heroine couldn't be together because he was enlisted and she an officer, yet they seemed to get around that just fine. Then the other reasons for them to be apart seemed ridiculous to me. Whatever, I just didn't love this book. Barely 3 stars.
