Hani and Ishu's Guide to Fake Dating by Adiba Jaigirdar
3.0
2.5 stars I think. I went into this with low expectations, which was good. It had all the issues - or pet peeves - that I had anticipated.
The writing was superficial, the situations were quite exaggerated and sometimes unrealistic, and the characters’ voices were hard to distinguish. There was a lot of telling instead of showing, specifically when it came to the characters’ feelings, which I think a lot of YA books suffer from.
However, it also had a lot of good things. It was surprisingly funny, especially in the beginning. The relationship was cute, though the plot was lacking towards the ending.
At the same time, I also acknowledge that this was not aimed at me. I knew this going in, and I expected to have these issues with it. And despite that, I still enjoyed it enough to finish it.
Would recommend if you love easy, cheesy, and cute reads!
Also edit: Who beta read this? There were three different spellings of Riverdale! Kind of poor job
