The Virgin Next Door by Lauren Blakely
4.0
This book is such a fun, flirty rom-com with plenty of spice and all the swoony feels! The Virgin Next Door is light-hearted, sexy, and full of witty banter that kept me grinning like a fool.
What I Loved:
- Veronica: She’s relatable, smart, and unapologetically sex-positive. Her side gig as a spicy columnist adds so much humor and depth to her character. Watching her navigate the chaos after “the email incident” is both hilarious and heartwarming.
- Milo: Total dreamboat. A hot, nerdy florist-slash-bike-shop-owner with a soft heart and swoon-worthy charm? Yes, please! His chemistry with Veronica is off the charts, and I loved how supportive and sweet he is.
- The setup: A mistaken-identity crush that turns into a boss-employee dynamic? Yes, it's a bit tropey, but Lauren Blakely makes it fresh and fun.
- The pets! Hot Stuff the cat and the pups absolutely steal the show. Their antics add so much charm to the story.
Favorite Moments:
- The glitter scene—pure chaos and laughter!
- Veronica’s Virgin Club column—it’s hilarious, bold, and so empowering.
- Their text banter—it’s clever, flirty, and made me smile nonstop.
Why It’s 4 Stars:
The book is light and fun, but the pacing felt a little slow in the beginning. Once the story found its rhythm, though, I couldn’t put it down.
Final Thoughts:
If you’re into steamy rom-coms with a side of adorable pets and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, The Virgin Next Door is a perfect pick. Milo and Veronica’s sizzling connection and heartfelt journey will leave you smiling for days. Definitely a win for rom-com fans!
