Springfield Confidential: Jokes, Secrets, and Outright Lies from a Lifetime Writing for The Simpsons
by Mathew Klickstein, Mike Reiss
A lot of funny anecdotes in here that encapsulate the dream of writing for one of the most acclaimed comedies of all time. It took a bit of getting used to Mike Reiss’s distinct tone, and some of his jokes fall flat, but by the end the comedy comes through. My biggest issue is in the deadpan way in which he tells the stories. It’s hard to know what is a true tidbit, and what is just the punchline to a joke. But overall it was a fun read that any Simpsons fan or fan of comedy television should check out.
