This one really dragged. Another case of being drawn in by the concept, but finding the execution lacking. In my opinion this is firmly a YA novel, even though it appears to be marketed as adult. That in itself isn’t really affecting my rating, I love YA, but this definitely reads as such.

None of the characters were all that interesting to me. Didn’t care about awkward Leto. Hero was just an inconvenience the whole time. I felt like with huffy, impatient, grumpy librarian Claire the author was trying too hard. Brevity was just there. Uriel and Ramiel were kind of entertaining I guess. And Walter was great. But overall I really don’t care about any of these characters or their backstories.

Even though we moved around to different places, which theoretically I enjoy, I just… Didn’t care about the plot or anything going on. This was a little too “silly” for what I was hoping for in terms of tone. Another reviewer pointed out the hilarity of a “battle” where two people are just shouting book quotes and author names at each other and it was rather ridiculous. I’m not going to continue the series.
