The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

4.0

Haven't we all felt a little Linus?

My rambling thoughts...

If I had to sum this book up in one word it would be Relatable. Not just to the main character but all the characters in the book. This surprises me because the main characters are extremely diverse and far removed from me personally (understatement! but I'm trying not to spoil anyone).
I appreciated how very well defined they were, all seeming to have different voices, opinions and backgrounds.

The book is ridiculous fun but covers some very dark and important themes. Its all handled very well and didn't come across as preachy rather it was heartwarming.

I recommend this book.
Skip the following nitpicks and read the book....

Only 4stars? Not sure why I don't think its a five, maybe a 4.9?
I found that there were questions I had about how this could fit into the real world. I realised that this isn't the point of the story at all but I still had questions.
I also thought a certain reveal was anticlimactic, I saw it coming and expected a little more.
