The Last Trial by Scott Turow

3.0

I liked the character of defense lawyer Sandy Stern from Presumed Innocent. I obviously was out to lunch for the past 3 decades, because I was excited to hear that Turow's new novel focused on Sandy Stern, not realizing that Stern had been featured in several other books he published in Kindle county Legal Thrillers 2-10 (In fact, I didn't know there was a "Kindle County Legal Thriller" series.) So I bought the new book, and found a lot of Sandy's family drama of the last several decades referenced within. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the courtroom 'thrils" and continued to find Sandy a sympathetic and interesting character, particularly in the last chapter of the book. Have to say I'm slightly disturbed by some patterns I see in how Turow's female characters are portrayed, but don't want to get into detail since I don't want to spoil the story.
