The Party Line by Carolyn Brown
5.0
Carolyn Brown (one of my favorite authors) always writes about strong women who support each other, but this time she stepped it up to women empowering other women! Lila Mathews inherits a strawberry farm - with the best strawberries in the county - and a century old home from her Aunt Gracie as well as "more money than she can count". What Aunt Gracie also left, was a secret that everyone in Ditto and Poteet, Texas, are just itchin' to know!
While a good part of the book deals with the strawberry farm and Aunt Gracie's secret, Lila also meets a good looking military veteran turned strawberry farmer and oil-magnate heir, Connor, deals with two men wanting to purchase her home and farm, an ornery next door neighbor/pseudo-grandfather, Jasper, and opens her home to Gina Lou, a young woman who is down on her luck.
While I loved every story line, the one that made me smile and get teary-eyed every time was how Aunt Gracie had believed in empowering women (there's a touching back story to this) and passed her passion down to Lila. If you like a good Southern romance with big sprinklings of common sense, laughter, tears, and empowerment you'll love The Party Line!
