I really love a good self-help book, and this one was very helpful. It's short, which is nice. He has several themes or mantras, which include I am Relentless, I Got This, and my favorite: I am Not my Thoughts, I am my Actions. I was attracted to this book by the subtitle because I do need to get out of my head, and it did not disappoint. Also, the author reads the book in his charming Scottish accent in a conversational tone. It's like a good pep talk. I will probably listen to this again. He quotes a lot of the Stoics (always a solid self-help basis) and some other philosophers (Jung). His celebrity examples are not my cup of tea but they work for his purposes (Schwarzenegger, meh). A lot of self-help books nowadays are just sales pitches for the author's products, and Bishop is no different but at least he saves the pitch for the very last, it's not nonstop "go to my website! Buy my programs!"
