I’m very sad because I wanted to love this and at first I did. I got almost 80% in and then DNFd. This book felt very very long. It just kept going and I lost interest. The first half kept my intrigue and I liked hearing about the different culture and the Black Cake sounds amazing. I just couldn’t continue because I wasn’t enjoying it anymore. Unpopular opinion, I know, reading history fiction is always a risk for me.
