erikhanberg 's review for:
Hild
by Nicola Griffith
I really fell for this book, perhaps because it's a difficult read. 7th century place names and character names, plus some random old words thrown in for good measure meant I had to work much harder at this book than I'm used to. For me, it paid off. Hild was a wonderful character and she was surrounded by great characters. The political intrigue and action packed into these pages was so well done.
But I would hesitate to recommend this book because it was such a challenge. YMMV.
