Maybe this Time is a sweet coming-off age YA contemporary story about a young woman finding her voice and inspiration.

Maybe this Time has a great concept that was executed well. The story is told in disconnected but chronological scenes of the yearly social events of a fictional Southern American town. The protagonist attends these events as part as her florist side job. Through these events, the reader gets to know the protagonist, her family and friends, and witness the protagonist growth towards a young adult. While the plot uses stereotypical YA tropes, it was fun and engaging.

The characters were well-written. I could sympathise with them because their personalities, ambitions and challenges were clearly defined. The relationships between the protagonist and her friends and family were convincing. Especially the familial scenes were some of my favourite moments of this story. There was a little bit of a romance, which was entertaining due to the dislike-to-like element and there was a nice chemistry between the characters.

What I loved most about this book was the small-town setting. The social events were a perfect background to understand the traditions and social dynamics of this town. There was a strong sense of community which I loved. The quirks and shenanigans of the local people made me smile multiple times.

Summarising, Maybe this Time is a well-written, fun, light-hearted YA contemporary about finding your identity. I loved the original way of storytelling, the small-town setting and the realistic characters.
