ARC Review
You know that this story is going to start out intense when then prologue is literally an email from the MMC’s psychiatrist asking him to contact him for help due to his multiple disorders. From the beginning the author made it very easy to dislike Tate, even as there were small flashbacks to his childhood. The opening after the prologue moves into a scene of Tate committing murder with no qualms and then going to pick up his PA, the FMC Gia, like nothing had happened. The relationship between Tate and Gia is tumultuous at best, and as things continue to unfold we see exactly how obsessed and unhinged Tate is.
Tate is out for revenge against those who murdered his father in prison. They were a part of the Irish mafia and Tate is sending a message each time he kills one to let them know he’s coming for the next one. He’s been on this vendetta for years, and it becomes explosive when Gia becomes more important to him.
Gia is originally from London, and after losing her father and brother in a car accident she wants to do whatever possible to save her mother from deteriorating completely in her dementia. She goes to Tate and asks for his help using his connections to get her mom moved to the US for an expensive and exclusive clinical trial that could possibly lessen the severity of her dementia. Tate agrees on the condition that she marry him and have his heirs.
So, being blackmailed into marriage in order to save her mother’s health amidst retaliation from the Irish mafia? Gia becomes surrounded by bodyguards and her life takes on a much different look. What will happen with her mother once she’s in the trial? Will the war with the Irish mafia ever end? Does the marriage between Tate and Gia have an HEA? You definitely need to read and find out, because it’s an excellent story and I don’t want to ruin it!
