This is a book for dog lovers and no one else. It was the constant pointing at moments that my own dogs have done that made this story so heartfelt, funny and sad. It's also a good story for pointing out many mistakes that new dog owners do. One who hasn't had a dog, would probably see the characters as insane for keeping such a beast and be bored with the little stories of eaten furniture and vet visits. But this book wasn't made for them, it's a love letter to a dog and all the other dog owners. The writing style was comforting and even though it takes place over the span of a decade, it's well paced. Have dogs? Read it. Don't have dogs? Maybe not a good introduction for getting a dog.
