It's basically House of Slaughter backstories with a gay m/m romance.
I enjoyed it and just want to give Jace and Aaron big hugs and tell them everything's going to be ok.
It's not because I read the original trilogy but I'll live in denial with the (marginally) happier ending of this one.
There's some extra world-building and some action scenes, but nothing to the scale of main series. Honestly, the relationship development between teen Jace and Aaron and the 15years later versions of them is what worked best in this installment.
