Cute quirky lighthearted story. A pretty fast read without a ton of emotional depth.
I liked the characters a lot, especially Eliasha, Valevna, and the goblins; they and Gav and the villagers bounced off each other in entertaining ways.
The mystery of memory loss was fun for the first 2/3 of the story, but as the plot moved along the story got shakier and less interesting; the plot resolution did land, but it didn’t have much impact. It felt a bit like Gav never found much agency as the solutions to the overall arc felt disconnected from his actions, what little there were; his emotional arc resolution didn’t quite hit either.
I liked Rozakis‘s writing and the book overall! I’d check out their future work for sure.
