A Vow So Bold and Deadly
by Brigid Kemmerer
I already didn't enjoy #2, so #3 had it hard from the start. Yet, this super heteronormative and boring conclusion that even shifts the focus mostly away from the main female character with cerebral palsy annoyed me a lot. BUT OK.
Well, one country with Grey and Lia Mara in it are at war with Emberfall with Rhen and Harper and it's all very nice and heterosexual and wow, the girls finally get laid. The evil enchantress is afoot again and Rhen is very torn, but we also learn that Rhen is a kind of asshole (as if we didn't know that before), but guess who's not getting any kind of meaningful development but rather drama and being immature? Right. Also the enchantress had a point, but she's evil, so she's gotta be defeated. Duh.
I don't know. It was kinda fun, but mostly I was annoyed. World-building just random, all conflicts are resolved so easily, I was pretty annoyed that the women are swept away by men and blablabla. Annoying.
3 stars bc it was fun in parts
