The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan

4.0

So I promised myself before the end of the year I would read through all of Rick Riordan's books because I was too busy deep in Harry Potter as a youth to read them when they were actually coming out. I failed myself on that front- these books are so much fun! I'm really excited that I'm reading this one now because I actually know the story of Thor partially because of Marvel and partially because of Neil Gaimen. I LOVED this book! It started a little slow but following the life and death of Magnus Chase was a RIDE! I think there is some cross over between Percy Jackson and this story which I love, but this one is starting a wild journey where we meet our good buddies Thor and Loki but they are super different than their Marvel counterparts. The story is fun and fully of typical Rick Riordan whimsey and it's just a blast to read! It does have a couple slow moments but overall, this is a super fun summer read! I am PUMPED to read the next one in the series not just because it's on my book reading bucket list, but because I think it'll be as fun as this one!
