Audiobook

Wow. This book was intense because it was filled with war-time heartbreak and horror. One one hand, it's my favorite type of book, weaving multiple characters together into a whole beautiful story. On the other hand, it's my least type of book, filled with war, sadness and graphic horror. Although it's fiction, it's clearly recent historical fiction. In my sheltered American world, I was oblivious of the Chechen wars. I've educated myself a bit while reading this, and like all wars ... it was awful.

Overall, I definitely recommend this book. It will stay with me for a long, long time. Only, maybe make sure you are mentally in the right place for a story like this before starting the book.
