This book is both painful and beautiful. The writing is magical and the story is like a reimagined Peter Pan. Be warned, there are many scences involving abuse, blood, and vomiting. This book is honest and raw. It doesn't shy away from the painful reality of being part Japanese in America after WW11 or living with an abusive father. Nevertheless, it is beautiful and hopeful.
