This book is basically just a romance - I’m not sure why she chose to use Achilles and Patroclus to do it as this wasn’t really true to the original Greek mythology. For a book based on a brutal war she really did skim over anything that wasn’t Patroclus swooning over Achilles. The writing is nice but the book felt really mellow and like it was skimming over anything that wasn’t the gay romance (pretty sure they were bi but ok).
I didn’t connect to any of the characters so the emotional attachment was also lacking for me - Patroclus point of view just sounded so apathetic.
