gilberik 's review for:
The Year of Magical Thinking
by Joan Didion
emotional
reflective
sad
medium-paced
When I first read this book, I knew it wasn't the right time for me, that I would have to go back to it when I experience grief of a similar nature. A lot of her thought processes, of her insights and analyses flew over me then, but they landed this time. My loss wasn't hers at all, we are vastly different people in different situations, but the grief is understandable. I see my own reflection in her words, and it helps me take a step back and make sense of my own life right now.
It's that kind of books that can't have a rating in my head, so I give it 5☆ to have it sit with the other books that impacted me. It's too personal of a piece to rate it in my opinion.
