Sophomore jinx? I'll read the third and find out. This one continues directly from the first. The problem is that just about all the main characters, the ones with chapter names, are whiny idiot deserving of no interest. Marcus, Geder, Dawson and Clara were all very, very, annoying. For a change of pace, Cithrin was just too precocious to be believable, too overblown.
The plot? Geder continues to move to dictatorship because his priests push him where they want, while plucky other people wander through the story. Again, I hope the 3rd is far better
