This book somehow made me nostalgic even though this was my first time reading it. It felt akin to the books I read in 6th-8th grade that I would obsess over (in a good way). That being said, the plot and magic system kept my interest from the beginning. And although this book is YA it felt like it read younger at times (could tell the author wrote children's stories). That combined with an ending I'm still conflicted on liking is why I give this a 3.75 instead of a 4/5. Overall this book was a fun quick read that I'd recommend!
